Trella Inferred Parent Network (TIPN) in Trella Insights
Learn what TIPN is, why it matters for market share analysis, and where to find it across Trella Insights.
|
Quick Answer TIPN rolls up related provider organizations under a shared parent company so you can see true enterprise-level market share. Find it as a filter and column on the Explore page, a column on the Market Share report, and a dedicated Analyze page for each network. |
What is TIPN?
Provider organizations often operate under shared ownership, even when they use different brand names. Trella Inferred Parent Network (TIPN) rolls these related organizations up under one parent so you can see the true scale of an enterprise, not just its individual locations.
Trella builds TIPN using CMS ownership data, the NPPES registry (the federal database of provider identifiers), and Trella's own proprietary matching. TIPN is available in Trella Insights for Home Health, Hospice, and Skilled Nursing.
Why it matters
- See true market share at the parent-organization level, not just by individual location
- Spot who really owns or operates an agency, even when the branding differs
- Size markets and competitors more accurately using enterprise-level data
- Identify acquisition or partnership targets based on a network's real strength and footprint
Where to find TIPN in Trella Insights
TIPN appears in the same three places across Home Health, Hospice, and Skilled Nursing. The screenshots differ slightly by module, but the steps don't.
Explore page — Click More Filters, then select Trella Inferred Parent Network to filter the table to a specific network. The TIPN column in the results table shows which network each organization belongs to.
Market Share report — On the Reports page, the Medicare FFS market share tables include a Trella Inferred Parent Network column. Select any TIPN name to open its dedicated Analyze page.
Analyze pages — Every provider's Analyze page shows its TIPN in the Provider Information panel at the top, linked to that network's own Analyze page. Destination tables throughout Analyze pages also show the TIPN for each listed provider.
