Overview
We don't include metrics for post-acute destinations for physicians with the following specialties in Marketscape: Radiology, Anesthesiology and Pathology.
Impact
Since we don't include these metrics, you will see the following differences for physicians with those specialties:
On the Explore page, you will not see the magnifying glass icon
that opens a dialog box with the top five destinations for the physician.
In addition, on the Analyze page for a selected Physician, under the Destinations tab, the Destinations table will be empty.
Although the image above is from Marketscape for Home Health, this table will also be empty in Marketscape for Hospice and Marketscape for SNF.
But, why?
First, some background....
In Marketscape, each page, table and metric tells a different story about the providers, patients, and the kind of care provided that the metrics reveal. One core story we love to tell is, "This physician would be a great source for referrals!" We strive to emphasize metrics that reveal good referral sources, and remove any data that would be misleading.
What's wrong with RAP? (Radiologists, Anesthetists, and Pathologists)
Nothing is wrong; it's all about the story. Physicians with these specialties tend to have high patient counts. (see image below) However, we have found that physicians with these specialties tend to have lots of claims with very little patient contact. This makes these physicians unlikely sources of referrals.
Is this new?
If you have been with Trella Health for a while, you might remember that we have gone back and forth over the years, including and removing these metrics. Our experience has taught us that including metrics for these specialties is not helpful. They tend to have high patient counts which skew the data, and in the end, yield poor results. On a more practical, logistical side, removing these metrics from the mix also speeds up the product.
