How to Take a Screenshot on a Website

Taking a screenshot of a website can be useful for saving information, troubleshooting issues, or sharing content. Here’s how you can take a screenshot on different devices and browsers.

 

Windows

Using the Print Screen Key

  1. Navigate to the website you want to capture.
  2. Press the PrtScn (Print Screen) key to copy the entire screen to your clipboard.
  3. Open an image editor like Microsoft Paint, Word, or an email.
  4. Press Ctrl + V to paste the screenshot.
  5. Save the file in your desired format.

Using Snipping Tool (Windows 10 & 11)

  1. Open the Snipping Tool from the Start menu.
  2. Click “New” and select the area you want to capture.
  3. Save the screenshot to your preferred location.

Using Snip & Sketch (Windows 10 & 11)

  1. Press Windows + Shift + S to open Snip & Sketch.
  2. Select the area you want to capture.
  3. The screenshot is copied to your clipboard and can be pasted (Ctrl + V) into an image editor.

Mac

Capture the Entire Screen

  1. Press Command + Shift + 3 to capture the full screen.
  2. The screenshot is saved to your desktop automatically.

Capture a Selected Area

  1. Press Command + Shift + 4.
  2. Click and drag to select the area you want to capture.
  3. The screenshot is saved to your desktop.

 

Mobile Devices

iPhone (Face ID Models)

  1. Press the Side button and Volume Up button simultaneously.
  2. The screenshot will appear in your Photos app.

iPhone (Home Button Models)

  1. Press the Home button and Power button together.
  2. The screenshot will be saved in Photos.

Android (Varies by Model)

  1. Press the Power button and Volume Down button at the same time.
  2. The screenshot is saved in the Gallery or Photos app.

Browser Extensions

Many browsers offer screenshot extensions for capturing entire webpages:

  • Google Chrome: Use extensions like "Full Page Screen Capture."
  • Firefox: Press Shift + Command + S (Mac) or Shift + Ctrl + S (Windows) for built-in capture.
  • Microsoft Edge: Use the "Web Capture" tool by pressing Ctrl + Shift + S.
